What to Discuss With Any Potential Industrial Cleaning Service You Might Hire

Posted on: 18 April 2016

Industrial cleaning is not like office or housecleaning; an industrial facility will have specialized needs for cleaning because of dust and dirt that is often kicked up with forklifts and which may be tracked into the storage area of the facility, and because of pollution, emissions, and other substances that are created by production processes. When you're ready to hire any potential industrial cleaning service, note a few things you might want to consider discussing with them so you know you choose the right company and the cleaning is always done properly.

1. Locker rooms

Locker rooms are often found in industrial facilities, and these may need some special attention. You might discuss with your cleaning company if they would pick up items of clothing left on the floor by workers, if they can clean the inside of lockers when employees leave, and so on. Some cleaning companies may not expect to pick up after careless employees who don't put company-provided uniforms in their proper bins, and may not be prepared to deodorize and sanitize lockers themselves as well as benches and seating areas.

2. Air ducts

Because production facilities and industrial complexes often create and kick up more dust than in an office or home, you might want to discuss cleaning the ducts with a potential company. This means more than just vacuuming the front of vents, as is often done in residential homes. A commercial cleaning company will need specialized materials to vacuum out ductwork and will need to know how to close off and seal vents properly, so dust and dirt is collected and not just pushed through those vents on another side of the building. Hiring a company that can provide this service and handle it properly can mean a cleaner facility overall.

3. Window and glass cleaning

Not all cleaning companies clean windows and glass since these require specialized tools to be cleaned properly, and may also involve having to climb up on ladders and even scaffolding to reach all the glass. However, in a production facility, the glass of windows, partitions, and the like can get very dirty, very quickly, because of the dust and debris created in the production process. It's good to have a company who can clean the glass of your facility regularly so that the inside of the facility looks good, but also so that the glass is not eventually damaged because of getting etched by built-up dirt and pollutants.
