Smart Ways to Keep Your Bathroom Sparkling Clean and Sanitary

No matter where you live or how big your family, chances are the bathroom is one of the most heavily used rooms in your home. Whether you have kids or not, you know what a struggle it is to keep the bathroom clean and tidy.

You do not have to give up on your dream of a clean bathroom. With a few simple cleaning tips and tricks, you can enjoy a sparkling clean bathroom even with a house full of busy teenagers. Here are some bathroom cleaning tricks to get you started.

Soak Your Showerhead

Vinegar works wonders on showerheads, so fill a plastic grocery bag with the stuff and soak your showerhead overnight. Just put enough vinegar in the bag to fully submerge the showerhead, tie the grocery bag shut and let it soak overnight. No need to unscrew or remove the showerhead.

Use the Right Tool

A squeegee works great for cleaning shower tiles — much better than a sponge or hand towel. Just dip the squeegee in your favorite cleaning solution and scrub that soap scum and other debris away.

Scrub Away the Grout

Grout in the bathroom is unsightly — and all too common. To send it packing just dip a grout brush in bleach and scrub away. Make sure the room has plenty of ventilation when you are working with the bleach; you might want to open the window and turn on the overhead fan. For more information on grout cleaning, contact a local professional.

No Sweat Toiling Cleaning

To clean the toilet the easy way, just pour a cup of baking soda into the bowl and let it sit for a couple of minutes. Then simply brush the bowl and flush. The baking soda will eat away the stains and leave the toilet bowl sparkling clean.

Give Your Sink a Good Cleaning

The bathroom sink really takes a beating, so it should be cleaned on a regular basis. The easiest way to clean the bathroom sink is with white vinegar, a cleaning solution every homeowner should have on hand. Just pour a cup of white vinegar down the sink, then flush it through with hot water. Finish by cleaning the faucets with a disposable bleach-based cleaning cloth.

Sanitize Your Towels

Your bathroom towels take a real beating, and if you have a big family they go through a lot of hands (and bodies). That means getting your bathroom towels really clean requires more than soap and water. Check your washing machine for a sanitize setting and use that setting to wash the bathroom towels. If your washing machine does not have a sanitize setting, wash them on the hottest possible setting.
